QAD - ULTRA REST
QUESTION:
Dear Team Fitzgerald,
I am a finger shooter and purchased a new-demo Bow that came with the Hunter
Ultra Rest.
I enjoy using fingers for the last 35 years and still shoot a recurve, as well.
However, I would like to take advantage of a drop away rest. My
understanding is you have used this rest and with fingers?
If so, would you recommend this setup? My old bow utilized a plunger to
reduce the effects of the string 'rolling off' the finders producing
side to side variances.
I would greatly appreciate your opinion and wisdom concerning
this...............thanks!!

ANSWER FROM GUY:
Bryan,
Thanks for the question. It is a VERY COMMON Question that comes in to us,
by the way! I just had your email forwarded to me, and I am happy to help!
The Ultra Rest works so well for us, it's amazing! Yes, we do shoot totally
instinctively, with finger gloves (see above photo). We also shoot
with a pretty slanted 'canting' style (my cant is a little more radical than
Dan's, even). We see no 'side to side' or 'nose dive' variances, that are
often common with other drop away rests, for us. We have the ability to
slow down our footage, frame by frame, and look closely at it. We see
nothing other than typical straight forward movement with the arrow. In
addition, if you have seen any of our 'over the shoulder shots' in the past two
years, you'll see for yourself that we are dead on, in our shots. Now, I
have to attribute that not only to the Ultra Rest, but to Mathews, Carbon
Express, Wasp, our God Given abilities to shoot, and honed skills through
practicing so much! We feel we use the best gear that is available!
So, in closing, we would recommend your set up, for you, because you have a lot
of years experience shooting with fingers. I understand that it was with a
recurve, but after some practice sessions, you'll most likely adapt to the
compound. The most important thing I will say, to you or anyone else, is
that you can't practice enough. If you don't feel absolutely confident,
after many practice sessions, that you can make a good shot, then by all means,
don't go to the woods. But, if you do feel the confidence, then it's your
hunt, and you go get 'em!
You can't go wrong with QAD Ultra Rests! They are drop away rests, that
let us shoot fingers and radical canting styles, without compromising accuracy!
It goes without saying that the rests work incredibly with sight aid and release
aid conventional styles of shooting, as well as instinctively with fingers!
What a great product! We love them! Have a great day and please let
us know if you have any further questions! We'll be happy to help!
Sincerely,
-Guy
